Mai The Tai, CEO of PadiTech: “We need a realistic perspective on AI’s capabilities”
Mai The Tai, CEO of PadiTech—one of Vietnam’s top 10 AI companies—offers profound and pragmatic insights into the present and future of AI technology.
PadiTech is a familiar name within Vietnam’s tech community, especially in the fields of Blockchain and AI (Artificial Intelligence). Recently, PadiTech was honored as one of the top 10 AI companies in Vietnam by VINASA (Vietnam Software and IT Services Association). Prior to this, in 2023, PadiTech also achieved recognition as one of the “Top 10 Blockchain Enterprises” from VINASA.
These accolades not only affirm Paditech’s stature in the technology sector but also underscore its commitment to contributing to Vietnam’s digital economy and the broader region. PadiTech has implemented numerous platforms for clients, such as Signal Pro View, Simple Docs Pro-IDP (Intelligent Document Processing), and Metafe.
In the face of two opposing viewpoints—”This is the era of AI” versus “The AI bubble is bursting”—Mai Thế Tài believes that AI is not merely a bubble, but a major technological wave in the process of maturing.
According to him, the world is at the dawn of a technological revolution, and the current challenges are merely stepping stones for AI’s future growth.
“However, it’s important to acknowledge that some overly optimistic expectations about AI’s short-term potential may lead to the perception of an ‘AI bubble’ when certain projects or products don’t meet expectations. This is a natural part of the technology development cycle, similar to what we saw with the Internet in the early 2000s,” the CEO explained.
Mai Thế Tài further elaborated: “AI is a groundbreaking technology that will continue to evolve. While there may be periods of adjustment, the long-term potential of AI is undeniable. We need a realistic understanding of AI’s current capabilities and focus on applying it in areas where it can deliver real value, rather than viewing it as a panacea for all problems. Investing in research and development is key to fostering genuine breakthroughs in the future, and the combination of advanced research with real market needs will be the cornerstone for sustainable AI growth.”
PadiTech’s work environment blends the skills, flexibility, and creativity of the Vietnamese with the responsibility, discipline, and professionalism of the Japanese.
To achieve these goals, Paditech plans to significantly boost its R&D budget to 25% of annual revenue, while also expanding both the quantity and quality of its workforce. The company will diversify its product portfolio, strengthen strategic partnerships with Vietnam’s five largest tech companies and the top 10 universities domestically and regionally, integrate AI into internal processes, invest in advanced security systems, and adopt international security standards like ISO 27001.
As a passionate technologist and firm believer in Vietnam’s potential, Mai Thế Tài emphasizes that the true power of technology lies in its ability to improve human lives and society.
“Don’t shy away from challenges, keep learning, constantly innovate, and most importantly, dream big. You are the ones who will shape the future of Vietnam’s technology. Let’s explore, learn, and apply technology responsibly to build a brighter future for all of us,” he urged young tech enthusiasts.
